About the Scholarship
The University of Canterbury is a public research university based in Christchurch, New Zealand. It was founded in 1873 as Canterbury College, the first constituent college of the University of New Zealand.
This scholarship recognizes and support top-achieving international students who have completed, or are currently completing, studies at either an overseas institution, or University of Canterbury International College (UCIC) and will be commencing an undergraduate degree program at the University of Canterbury.

This scholarship recognizes and supports top-achieving international students commencing an undergraduate degree program at the University of Canterbury.
Requirements for International First Year Scholarship
- Recipients must be full-fee-paying international students.
Applicants may not be:
C). Holders of New Zealand residence class visas.
- Applicants must be completing, or have completed on or after 1 January of the year before the year of application, through an overseas institution or at the UC International College (UCIC), a university entrance-level qualification that permits entry into a University of Canterbury undergraduate degree program.
Those studying at secondary level in New Zealand are not eligible.
- Applicants, by the closing date for the round in which they are applying (15 April or 31 October), must have applied for admission to the University.
The scholarship is not tenable by students who have already undertaken a partial study in an undergraduate degree program at a New Zealand tertiary institution.
